Prof Thilo Patzer is a specialized surgeon for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and Sports. He was appointed as the chairman of Shoulder-Elbow and Sports Orthopedics Department at Schoen Clinic Duesseldorf, Germany, in September 2017. He is the incoming congress president 2024 of the German Association for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (DVSE). He is the former Head of the Department of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and Sports at the University Hospital of Duesseldorf, Germany. He did his residency at the Orthopaedic and Traumatologic Department of the University Hospital of Marburg, Germany. His first teacher for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery was Prof. Ralph Hertel in Bern, Switzerland, in 2003. He completed a one year shoulder fellowship with Prof. Peter Habermeyer in Heidelberg, Germany, in 2007, the AGA Sports Orthopaedics fellowship in the US in 2010 and the intra European SECEC traveling fellowship in 2012. His scientific topics are related to the long head of biceps tendon lesions and to shoulder arthroplasty and shoulder infections with C. Acnes. He was head of the AGA committee for shoulder-osteoarthritis and head of the DVSE grant and price committee.
