miniaci Anthony

Anthony Miniaci, M.D., is Deputy Chief Medical Executive specializing in sports medicine and shoulder surgery with Baptist Health in South Florida. He has produced many internationally recognized scientific papers, patents, and presentations with a vast career in orthopedic research and development. Dr. Miniaci’s patented technology offers patients a less invasive shoulder surgery for the complex shoulder joint.

At Baptist Health, he leads a growth and integration of a team of surgeons actively involved in clinical and basic science research to improve patient outcomes worldwide. From 2003-2022, Dr. Miniaci worked for Cleveland Clinic’s Center for Sports Health in Cleveland, OH. He was also an orthopedic surgery professor at the University of Toronto and Case Western Reserve University. During his career Dr. Miniaci has treated high-profile Olympic and professional athletes, including players from the National Hockey League, the National Football League, and Major League Baseball. He served as the head team physician for the Cleveland Browns and as an orthopedic consultant to the Toronto Blue Jays. He was an orthopedic professor at the University of Toronto and then moved to Cleveland Clinic in 2003-2022.

Dr. Miniaci has also served on many boards, committees, and societies. He has received many awards for his research as well as for career achievements, including the 2022 Alumni of Distinction award from his University of Western Ontario for outstanding contributions to medicine. He has been active and had leadership roles in numerous medical societies. As chairperson of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Foundation, Dr. Miniaci led the creation of the National Shoulder and Elbow Health Week, now a nationally recognized event which was established to raise awareness and support for shoulder problems. This event has resulted in numerous grants, recognition and funding dedicated to improving shoulder care for patients throughout North America. Most recently he has been elected by his peers at the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons to its Presidential line. The appointment is for 5 years and he will serve on the Executive as Vice President, President Elect, President in 2025-2026 and then as Immediate and Past Presidents role. The ASES is an invitation only and one of the world’s leading orthopedic and shoulder and elbow societies.
